Penélope Cruz

Penélope Cruz commence par apprendre la danse au Conservatoire National Espagnol avant d'entamer une carrière d'actrice. Elle fait de petites apparitions à la télévision de son pays avant d'obtenir un rôle secondaire dans El laberinto griego de Rafael Alcàzar, en 1991. Peu après, elle est repérée par le réalisateur espagnol José Juan Bigas Luna, qui lui propose le rôle dénudé de la belle Silvia dans Jambon Jambon. Elle accepte. Sa carrière est lancée.
Les propositions affluent alors, lui permettant de choisir ses rôles et réalisateurs. Pour Alejandro Amenabar dans le vertigineux Ouvre les yeux (1997), elle représente l'objet du désir trouble et mystérieux d'Eduardo Noriega. Elle apparaît chez Pedro Almodovar en nonne craquante dans Tout sur ma mère, Prix de la mise en scène à Cannes en 1999. Son talent traverse les frontières : elle joue dans le western The Hi-Lo Country de Stephen Frears et dans la comédie culinaire Amour, piments et bossa nova. Nicolas Cage et Christian Bale, quant à eux, se battent à mort pour ses beaux yeux dans Capitaine Corelli (2001).
En 2002, Penélope Cruz partage l'affiche de Vanilla sky (le remake américain d'Ouvre les yeux) avec son compagnon Tom Cruise, avant de rejoindre l'univers du producteur Luc Besson pour Fanfan la Tulipe. Devenue actrice internationale de premier plan, elle donne la réplique à Halle Berry dans le thriller fantastique Gothika de Mathieu Kassovitz (2003), compose avec Charlize Theron un séduisant duo d'actrices dans Nous étions libres (2004), puis s'aventure dans le désert du Sahara (2005). Des vélléités hollywoodiennes qui ne l'éloignent pas du cinéma d'auteur, en témoigne son rôle dans A corps perdus (2004), de, et avec, Sergio Castellitto. Retour à un film d'aventures avec Bandidas, où l'actrice espagnole forme avec Salma Hayek un duo explosif (2005).

Halle Berry was born on August 14, 1966 in Cleveland, Ohio, USA to African American father Jerome Berry, a former hospital attendant, and Caucasian mother Judith Berry, a retired psychiatric nurse. Halle also has an older sister named Heidi. Halle first came into the spotlight at 17 years old when she won the Miss Teen All-American Pageant, representing the state of Ohio in 1985 and a year later in 1986 when she was the first runner-up in the Miss USA Pageant. After participating in the pageant, Halle became a model. It eventually led to her first weekly TV series, 1989's "Living Dolls" (1989), where she soon gained a reputation for her on set tenacity, preferring to "live" her roles and remaining in character even when the cameras stopped rolling. It paid off though when she reportedly refused to bathe for several days before starting work on her role as a crack addict in Spike Lee's Jungle Fever (1991) because the role provided her big screen breakthrough. The following year, she was cast as Eddie Murphy's love interest in Boomerang (1992), one of the few times that Murphy was evenly matched on screen. In 1994, Berry gained a youthful following for her performance as sexy secretary Sharon Stone in The Flintstones (1994). She next had a highly publicized costarring role with Jessica Lange in the adoption drama Losing Isaiah (1995). Though the movie received mixed reviews, Berry didn't let that slow her down, and continued down her path to superstardom. In 1998, she received critical success when she starred as a street smart young woman who takes up with a struggling politician in Warren Beatty's Bulworth (1998). The following year she won even greater acclaim for her role as actress Dorothy Dandridge in made-for-cable's Introducing Dorothy Dandridge (1999) (TV), for which she won a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a TV Movie/Mini-Series. In 2000, she received box office success in X-Men (2000) in which she played Storm, a mutant who has the ability to control the weather.

Elle apparaîtrait également dans "The edge" (1992), "Ferris Bueller" (1990), et a un rôle récurrent dans "Herman's head" (1991). Jusqu'en 1993, elle hésitait. Puis, en 1994, un pilote appelé "Friends like this" apparut. Initialement auditionée pour le rôle de Monica, Jennifer Aniston a refusée et auditionée pour le rôle de Rachel Green, la princesse urbaine transformée en serveuse de café. Avec le succès de la série "Friends" (1994/-), Jennifer est devenu célèbre et recherchée alors qu'elle profite de sa populazritée pour obtenir des rôles de film qu'elle tourne pendant l'entre-saison de la série.
